Musicologist and Art Theorist

About


Bojana Radovanović Šuput, musicologist and art theoretician, is a Research Associate at the Institute of Musicology SASA.
Her research interests include contemporary music and art, voice, metal music, art and media, and transdisciplinary research. 
She is a co-founder and the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology.

She obtained her Ph.D. at the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, studying the relations of voice to vocal technique and new technologies in contemporary art and popular music (thesis: Voice and Technique/Technology in Contemporary Music, 2022, mentors: Dr. Vesna Mikić, Dr. Biljana Leković).
She holds master degrees in musicology (thesis: Science as Art – Interdisciplinarity in Dragutin Gostuški’s Scientific Works, 2015, mentor: Dr. Vesna Mikić) and theory of art and media (thesis: Experimental Voice – Contemporary Theory and Practice, 2017, mentor: Dr. Miodrag Šuvaković). She successfully finished Jean Monnet Module "Musical Identities and European Perspective: An Interdisciplinary Approach".

She has published three books and co-edited three collective monographs. Likewise, she publishes articles and studies in collections, Serbian and international magazines, and participates in national and international conferences, tribunes, and panel discussions. She works on archiving and promoting Serbian film and art music on the internet with the association Serbian Composers. She is a collaborator and vice-president of the Association for the Study of Popular Music (ASPOM, Belgrade) and a member of the Serbian Musicological Society. She also collaborated with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the Third Program of Radio Belgrade. She is a member of the International Association for Popular Music Studies (IASPM), the International Society for Metal Music Studies (ISMMS), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the scientific journal Metal Music Studies.

She is one of the founders and a Board member for the IASPM CESE (International Association for the Study of Popular Music: Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe).

She was engaged as a teaching associate at the Department of Musicology of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Since 2022, Bojana is a lecturer, a mentor, and, as of 2025, a program coordinator at the "Vuk Karadžić Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center" in Tršić, participating in the seminar Musicology and Ethnomusicology.
